Richard S. Hawkes, senior partner at Consulting Alliance member Crazy Growth Partners, has extensive consulting experience helping businesses grow and excel. He has led major business strategy and strategy implementation engagements with leading companies in a broad range of industries including: Banking, Consumer Products, e-Business, Food & Beverage, Heavy Manufacturing, Insurance, Pharmaceuticals and Telecommunications. Richard has worked domestically and internationally with global Fortune 100 and midsized growth companies including: AT&T, Chase, Corning, Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Hallmark International, Hewlett Packard, Instinet, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Pearl River Chocolates, Quest Diagnostics, Sprint, Sun Microsystems, United National Insurance and WLR Foods.
Examples of the types of assignments that Richard has led include:
- Developing a strategy to transition a traditional greeting card company into a $1B global e-business content provider. The engagement required analyzing local business strategies for 13 countries and resulted in a $40MM investment;
- Developing a global marketing strategy for a $6B high-tech ceramics manufacturer, which resulted in more than ten separate operating companies adopting a common approach to global marketing. Key activities included defining a formal business planning process and then benchmarking with leading companies in other industries to drive performance improvements;
- Helping a new CEO turnaround to profitability a $300MM environmental testing company that was losing $13MM a year. The assignment included business analysis, organizational redesign, process reengineering and change management components. The client company was sold by the parent for 1.5 times their previous valuation;
- Assisting a $300 MM generic drug company implement a new approach to enterprise resource management which resulted in doubling the rate of new product introductions. The engagement included developing a tailored approach to project management and implementing a project portfolio monitoring process.
- Raising capital and subsequently selling a personal development/testing company.
Richard began his career developing financial information systems at Morgan Stanley and Co. Subsequently, Richard joined Kepner-Tregoe and was a founding and senior member of the firm’s Worldwide Strategy Practice. Richard was a principal with The Strategy Partners Group and a Senior Vice President of Strategy and Development with Obik, Inc.
Richard received a B.A. in Computer Science and German Literature from Hamilton College and an M.B.A. in Marketing and Management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
