(WYNNEWOOD, PA) — Seeking to enhance management of the Department's portfolio of IT projects, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PENNDOT) has licensed more than 50 seats of Strategy Roundtable™ Enterprise.
PENNDOT has had a working process for prioritizing their numerous IT projects for many years, however the relationship between establish priorities and PENNDOT's strategic focus areas (SFA) and strategic objectives (SO) was often unclear.
With Strategy Roundtable™ PENNDOT management will be able to ensure that established priorities truly serve PENNDOT's strategic direction by mapping each IT project to Bureau, Deputate and PENNDOT SFAs and SOs and establishing priorities based on the relative importance of the SFAs and SOs. The mapping will also enable executive management to track implementation progress by both SFA and SO.
Acknowledged as a process and technology leader among Commonwealth of Pennsylvania departments and agencies, PENNDOT often trail-blazes novel approaches to long-standing strategic management issues, though in this case they must tip their hat to the PA Liquor Control Board (PLCB), a long-time Gryphon Systems client and one of the first organizations to license Strategy Roundtable™. PENNDOT will look to learn from PLCB's experience with Strategy Roundtable™ as well as to utilize the software in new and innovative ways, in particular in helping ensure compliance with new Commonwealth-wide IT investment prioritization processes.
The PA Department of Transportation, with an annual budget in excess of $5 billion, owns and operates the nation's fifth largest state-owned highway system and administers one of the nation's largest grant programs for mass transit, rail freight and aviation. PENNDOT also processes 30 million driver and vehicle customer service transactions each year, and operates 12 Pennsylvania Welcome Centers that greeted over three-million visitors in 2002. Through the active involvement of customers, employees and partners; PENNDOT provides services and a safe intermodal transportation system that attracts businesses and residents and stimulate Pennsylvania’s economy.

“Any company that can make sense of its environment, generate strategic options, and realign its resources faster than its rivals will enjoy a decisive advantage. This is the essence of resilience. And it will prove to be the ultimate competitive advantage in the age of turbulence – when companies are being challenged to change more profoundly, and more rapidly, than ever before.”
